Yankees CF Aaron Hicks will be getting Tommy John surgery on October 30th and be out 8-10 months. This injury most likely means that the Yankees will re-sign veteran CF Brett Gardner this upcoming offseason. In other injury news, Masahiro Tanaka had elbow surgery and Luke Voit had sports hernia surgery, but both are expected to be today for Spring Training in 2020.
GIRARDI TO PHILLIES:
Former Yankee, Cub, former Marlins and Yankees manager and 4 time World Series champion Joe Girardi has agreed to be the next manager of the Philadelphia Phillies on a 3 year deal.
The Mets were gunning for him, but missed out.
TINGLER TO PADRES:
Former DR league manger Jayce Tingler is headed to a team that speaks a lot of Spanish in the San Diego Padres. The Pads have a lot of players from the Dominican Republic, so who knows? This might work.
GREG BIRD UPDATE:
Greg Bird went 1 for 5 in his second DR League game.
